Award-winning industry leader joins Bayleys Executive Team

Bayleys Real Estate has strengthened its position as New Zealand’s largest, full-service real estate agency with the appointment of Davina Henderson as national director – Strategic Business Development. A highly respected industry leader and recipient of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) ‘Woman of the Built Environment New Zealand’ award, Henderson’s expertise in commercial and industrial property will enhance Bayleys’ market-leading capabilities.

In this newly created role, Henderson will work alongside Bayleys’ key business units, including Commercial and Industrial Sales and Leasing, Occupier Advisory, Capital Markets, Bayleys Business, Professional Services and Building Consultancy, and major clients to drive growth, innovation and high-value strategic outcomes in New Zealand’s dynamic commercial and industrial property sector.

Bayleys’ national director - Commercial and Industrial, Ryan Johnson, says Henderson’s depth of experience and leadership will play a critical role in expanding client solutions and strengthening Bayleys’ market position.

“Davina’s track record speaks for itself. With nearly two decades of experience across commercial, industrial, and retail property in New Zealand and Australia, she has built and led high-performing teams, cultivated deep client relationships, and delivered exceptional results.

“Her appointment reinforces Bayleys’ commitment to staying at the forefront of the sector by attracting the industry’s top talent.”

A Sydney native, Henderson built her career from the ground up, starting as an assistant for a commercial property team before progressing into senior leadership roles overseeing business development, real estate management services, investment strategy, and large-scale transactions.

In 2022, she was awarded the prestigious RICS ‘Woman of the Built Environment NZ’ award, recognising her exceptional contribution to the sector. She has also been recognised with CEO and MVP Asset Management awards, further underscoring her leadership excellence and lasting impact on industry best practices.

Henderson says she was drawn to Bayleys’ unique combination of scale, agility and progressive business philosophy, which offers a platform from where she can drive meaningful change.

“Bayleys is unmatched in the market. The ability to make strategic decisions swiftly, collaborate across business lines, and embrace innovation is absolutely elite and sets it apart in the sector. I am thrilled to contribute to this dynamic environment and help to drive value for our clients.”

Henderson’s national role will focus on identifying emerging market opportunities, enhancing collaboration across Bayleys’ diverse business units, and delivering innovative client solutions.

Johnson adds that Henderson’s industry leadership extends beyond her executive roles, with a commitment to mentoring and professional development. “As a mentor for the Property Council New Zealand (PCNZ) Emerging Leaders program and a member of the PCNZ Auckland Regional Committee, Davina remains deeply connected to industry change and keyed into growth opportunities.”

“Her appointment aligns with Bayleys’ strategic focus on delivering data-driven insights, deepening client engagement, and leading from the front in an evolving economic landscape.”

“With the yield curve turning and economic conditions improving, Henderson’s expertise will be instrumental in positioning Bayleys as the go-to advisory partner for investors and occupiers navigating new market opportunities,” Johnson says.
